Rainy Day Rules #1: What To Wear In Wet Weather.
Many of us,
especially those who aren’t hindered by a dress code at work, tend to go
for the quick-fix pambahay get-up (i.e., shorts + hoodie + slippers)
that is more a testament to laziness than a fashion statement. But don’t
let this kind of weather dampen your style spirit. If anything, you
should be inspired to level up that wardrobe. I have come up with some
fun and chic items to help you maneuver the showers, sprinkles or
full-blown rainstorms.
Waterproof outerwear
is a must. It does not have to be unfashionable. Select classy pieces to
create a mature, sophisticated look, or try a few well-fit garments in
playful colours to brighten up your rainy day style. 1. Avoid suede and other materials that can suffer water damage. Do not carry any bags in this material or wear any shoes made with this material. Unprotected leather can also get ruined in the rain. 2. Cheer yourself up with lively colours. When the weather is grey and cloudy, your spirits naturally sink. Adding bright, cheerful colours to your wardrobe is a good way to keep your spirits high. Choose colourful pieces to add a splash of colour to your rainy day attire well at the same time staying warm. Work your Cardigans and jackets into your rainy day wardrobe. 3. Look chic in classic colours. Outerwear and accessories in black, chocolate, or deep red create a sophisticated appearance. If a boost to your confidence is enough to lift your mood on a rainy day, stick with neutral or subdued colours that give your appearance a mature twist. 4. Treat your umbrella like an accessory. Look for a bright colour or pattern to liven up the dreariness outdoors, or opt for a chocolate brown, black or red umbrella with a wooden handle for a mature, chic look. Have fun with it, and choose an umbrella that suits your personality.
