Get Cheeky With Blush.
There’s a myth that woman of color can’t wear blush, and we are hoping to dispel this myth and get you blushing!
It’s all about creating warmth, using
different shades complimenting your complexion, and adding depth. First,
let’s discuss the different consistencies of blushes and the
application that you can use.
Understand that cream blush is harder to use than powder blush. So,
practice getting it right before going out and/or on a day where you
are free and don’t need to go anywhere, for you could mess up or not
like the makeup. Be sure that you feel great in the makeup and it’s your
style.
Remember a little goes a long way with cream blush! Put a small amount of the product on your fingertips.
Lightly press your fingertips over the apples
of your cheeks and cheekbones, blending the blush very carefully until
it’s completely absorbed into the skin.
Put as much as desired shade of the color.
Tissue off any excess blush left on your fingers.
Powder blush, which has staying power, is best applied with a large blush brush.
- Lightly swirl your blush brush in your blush color. Tap off or blow off any excess to avoid having a huge color deposit on your cheek.
- Smile. The round parts of your cheeks that show when you smile are what you apply blush on. Lightly brush the color onto this part, the apples, until you have a bit of color on your cheeks.
- To have a brighter color on your cheeks just go back and do the same again. Don’t forget to blend the blush in.
- Avoid tapping and pressing hard on your cheeks as it may damage your brush.
Blend well. Avoid having a significant line of blush in comparison to your skin. You’re ready to go!
Mastering the Blush Stroke…
Most ladies prefer powder blush, so after the
foundation has been applied, take a fluffy powder blush and start at
the apple of your cheeks (the roundest part) and swoosh upward toward
the ear.
If you are contouring using blush, use a small flat brush to give me more control and still swoosh.
The key to creating killer cheekbones is to contour with two shades of blush.
To eliminate the “clown” look, you have to
know the right shades of blush to use so you can make your look healthy
and radiant. Just like foundation, blush comes in various shades.
If you have dark skin…
You need colors that will “pop,” so try plums or bright fuchsia.

If you have medium skin…
Go for a deep golden pink for day and more of an apricot for night.
