Beauty Tips: 6 Blusher tricks for every face shape.
#1 ROUND FACE SHAPE: The defining duo
Round faces are
the perfect platform for letting your blush stand out, but if you want
to add a little definition, try these quick contouring tips. Your blush
should double up as a pigment and a luminous highlighter, so grab one
with a hint of shimmer before you get to work. Stay away from the apples
of cheeks, as you want to add angles, and start on cheekbones, lined up
with eye pupils, streaking up to your temples.
#2 SQUARE FACE SHAPE: The softening sweep
If you want to
soften square shaped faces, balance out those angular points; drawing
attention to rounder features will make contours less severe. So grab a
pretty pinky blush and pick it up with a larger brush, working it into
the apples of cheeks with a dab of highlighter.
#3 DIAMOND FACE SHAPE: The blush balancer
Diamond-shaped
faces come to a point at the chin and the top of the head, showing more
width through the cheekbones that can be easily balanced out. Apply a
cream blush with a fluffy brush starting on the ball of your cheek, and
work it in a crescent-shaped, light wash up to your hairline.
#4 HEART FACE SHAPE: The low blush
Heart-shaped faces
have strong jawlines that come to a point at the chin, so you want to
balance out top-heavy contours by drawing eyes to your cheekbones. Apply
your blush – we love a peach for this – in the hollows of your cheeks,
much like you would a contour shade with a highlighter placed above.
#5 LONG FACE SHAPE: The widening wash
If you have a
longer face, try this to add a little width; work a powder blush in a
horizontal sweep from the apples of cheeks to your ears. This really
helps to break up your features in an ultra flattering way, lending
balance to long contours much like a fringe would do.
#6 OVAL FACE SHAPE: The aligner
An oval-shaped
face is easy to work with as the contours are fairly balanced, but swept
on wrong and your wash of blusher could add strength to your jawline.
Keep your features in balance working on the cheekbones in a gentle,
natural wash, but instead of gliding up to your temples, focus colour
just under your eyes.
